Several harmful effects of antibiotic

In general practice an antibiotic is a compound (known as chemotherapeutic agent) that prohibits the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics adjunct to the antimicrobial compound group those, which handle the infections caused by microorganism, protozoa, fungi, viruses etc.


But several side effects have been associated with the antibiotic consumption:
• Women can experience vaginal yeast infections.
• Stomach upset, diarrhoea can also happen.
• It can diminish the activities of kidneys, bone marrow, liver etc.
• Consumption of a few antibiotics (like- fluoroquinolones, clindamycin, cephalosporins etc) can cause inflammation of large intestine, colitis.
• Antibiotic intake can also cause several itchy rashes, swelling throat, low blood pressure, breathing problems etc.
Some effects of antibiotics overprescribed:

• Antibiotics commonly known as fluoroquinolones, sometimes even considered as quinolone antibiotics, brand names are- levaquin, cipro, avelox & factive. Referred drug names frequently floxacin, like ciprofloxacin.
• It can also cause nerve problem which leads to weakness, numbness etc.
• Antibiotic consumption can affect heart rhythm, known as prolonged QT interval.
• It can even harm the inelastic fibrous tissue that connects a muscle with its bony attachment/tendon rupture. Be careful about tendons swelling.
• Several other side effects are- hallucinations, light sensitivity, change in blood sugar, seizures etc.
